Can’t view PDFs in IE9

So this was a doozy of a pickle of a jam of a marmalade.

Client is running IE9 and they can’t seem to view PDFs. Every PDF generated, results in an X in the upper left hand corner. The provider of the site that they were using to pull up reports, threw their hands up and gave up. They pretty much said that the machine had to be formatted. PDF viewing was fine in Firefox but the site they accessed, needed active-x controls.

Some hunting around and I discovered that the fix was easy to apply but difficult to find.

1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll to the bottom
3. Uncheck “Do not save encrypted pages to disk”
