{"id":589,"date":"2025-11-07T19:00:46","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T19:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.torontohelpdesk.ca\/blog\/?p=589"},"modified":"2025-11-07T19:00:46","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T19:00:46","slug":"creating-a-bimi-record-for-email-verification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.torontohelpdesk.ca\/blog\/creating-a-bimi-record-for-email-verification\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating a BIMI record for email verification"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Problem:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SPF, DMARC and DKIM isn&#8217;t enough anymore, new requirements are coming out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Solution:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Creating the image<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Take your logo and turn it into a square\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I used paint, I opened my logo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CTRL-X, resized the canvas and CTRL-V<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/express\/feature\/image\/convert\/svg\">https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/express\/feature\/image\/convert\/svg<\/a> and convert the file into SVG format and save it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/jakearchibald.github.io\/svgomg\/\">https:\/\/jakearchibald.github.io\/svgomg\/<\/a> and drag your logo there, make sure that at the bottom right, the size is under 32k<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upload it to your website (eg https:\/\/yourdomain.com\/yourlogo.svg)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adjusting the SVG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to the file editor on your website and open the logo file for editing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You should see &lt;svg xmlns=&#8221;http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg&#8221; etc.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>after svg but before xmlns, add the following:<br>version=&#8221;1.2&#8243; baseProfile=&#8221;tiny-ps&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Now it should look like this:<br>&lt;svg version=&#8221;1.2&#8243; baseProfile=&#8221;tiny-ps&#8221; xmlns=<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the closing &#8220;>&#8221; but before &lt;pathfill&#8230; add the following<br>&lt;title>My Company Name&lt;\/title> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>DNS Editor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go into your DNS editor and create the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>TXT record<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name: default._bimi<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Value: v=BIMI1; l=https:\/\/mydomain.com\/logo.svg; a=; avp=brand;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Record Check<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mxtoolbox.com\/bimi.aspx?source=cms_bimi_setup\">https:\/\/mxtoolbox.com\/bimi.aspx?source=cms_bimi_setup<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/redsift.com\/tools\/bimi?utm_source=google-c&amp;utm_campaign=OnDMARC_US&amp;utm_medium=ad&amp;utm_content=BIMI&amp;utm_term=verified%20mark%20certificate&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=17549629671&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADPOkYYxS0kF-ReWOrhHRisIpwkZL&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiAzrbIBhA3EiwAUBaUdcQqZguUTsPONf1fgiby79Ouo0niwzHDkhH6pD9k9bMejPcUuOYDgxoCSvkQAvD_BwE\">https:\/\/redsift.com\/tools\/bimi?utm_source=google-c&amp;utm_campaign=OnDMARC_US&amp;utm_medium=ad&amp;utm_content=BIMI&amp;utm_term=verified%20mark%20certificate&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=17549629671&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADPOkYYxS0kF-ReWOrhHRisIpwkZL&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiAzrbIBhA3EiwAUBaUdcQqZguUTsPONf1fgiby79Ouo0niwzHDkhH6pD9k9bMejPcUuOYDgxoCSvkQAvD_BwE<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Problem: SPF, DMARC and DKIM isn&#8217;t enough anymore, new requirements are coming out.
