{"id":442,"date":"2020-09-17T17:04:42","date_gmt":"2020-09-17T17:04:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.torontohelpdesk.ca\/blog\/?p=442"},"modified":"2020-09-17T17:04:43","modified_gmt":"2020-09-17T17:04:43","slug":"removing-mfa-prompts-in-office-365","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.torontohelpdesk.ca\/blog\/removing-mfa-prompts-in-office-365\/","title":{"rendered":"Removing MFA prompts in Office 365"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Problem:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You disable MFA (or dual factor) for the user but it still prompts you to authenticate via phone number or other means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Solution:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three places to check for MFA, it could very well be that you have to go to all 3 solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Solution 1: <ol><li>In Admin console, go to Active users<\/li><li>Click on the user<\/li><li>Click on Manage multifactor authentication at the bottom right<\/li><li>Disable the user&#8217;s MFA status<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Solution 2:<ol><li>Under Admin Center, click on Azure Active Directory<\/li><li>On the far left, click on Azure Active Directory<\/li><li>Click on Properties (bottom of Manage)<\/li><li>You should be under Tenant properties<\/li><li>At the bottom, click on Manage Security Defaults<\/li><li>Set Enable Security Defaults to No<\/li><\/ol><\/li><li>Solution 3:<ol><li>Staying in Azure Active Directory, click on Password reset (about 4 options above Properties)<\/li><li>Set the Self service password reset enabled to either None or Selected (and deselect the user)<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Problem: You disable MFA (or dual factor) for the user but it still prompts you to authenticate via phone number or other means.
