We&#8217;ll wait and see.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution 1:<\/h2>\n<p>Open up Group Policy Editor, and right-click-and-edit Default Domain Controller Policy. \u00a0Go to Computer Configuration\/Policies\/Windows Settings\/Security Settings\/Local Policies\/Security Options, and set\u00a0<strong>Domain member: Digitally encrypt or sign secure channel data (always)<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always)<\/strong> to\u00a0<strong>Disabled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<em>theory<\/em>, gpupdate \/force should get the job done, but in practice I had to reboot my Server 2012 instance to make it take effect. \u00a0Once I\u2019d done so, the difference in speed was extremely obvious \u2013 even folder listings were visibly faster, and copying a 9MB file from a share to a client desktop went from taking 20+ seconds to being instantaneous, as it bloody well should be.<\/p>\n<p>Worth noting: this\u00a0<em>shouldn\u2019t<\/em> be a problem on a non-domain-controller 2012 server, as you can see from the location of the GPs I had to edit. \u00a0Also worth noting: these settings aren\u2019t set correctly on Windows Server Essentials 2012 either, despite the fact that WSE is\u00a0<em>always<\/em> both a domain controller and a fileserver.<\/p>\n<h2>Solution 2:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Disable Receive Side Scale:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Device Manager ==&gt; [Network Card] ==&gt; Advanced properties of the physical network adapter (or virtual network adapter that manages the \u201d Team \u201cof the physical NICs) ==&gt; select RSS (Receive Side Scaling) and then set it to DISABLED.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Problem: When accessing files on the server, you find that loading Word, Excel etc. files to be slow.
